Wrinkles are smoothed out by temporarily paralysing the muscles using a preparation widely known as Botox.

What is Botox?

It is a very dilute form of the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum and there are a number of different makes. Over the years I have achieved the best results using the traditional Botox brand marketed by Allergan. Allergan are a market leader in this field and MHRA approved.

Common Areas

The common areas for Botox treatments are the forehead, crows feet and in between the eyes. I also utilise it for certain areas around the mouth to smooth out fine lines and lift the corners of the mouth.

Botox injected very precisely into the muscles concerned using a tiny 30 gauge needle. If the thought of that is worrying, a numbing cream can be provided that will help considerably. It takes around 3 – 7 days to start working and usually lasts up to 14 weeks. In some lucky individuals can last a little longer!

Side Effects

These are, thankfully, rare. While there are occasionally some pinpricks and bruising afterwards, I can minimise all with cold compresses immediately before your treatment. Arnica is also used afterwards if necessary. Unwanted involvement of other muscles nearby is exceptionally rare.
